PROF TEE-JAY

University of Maiduguri 2025/2026 Pre-Admission Screening Exercise

(For UTME and Direct Entry Candidates)

Hello Future UNIMAID Students

If you are dreaming of becoming a student at the University of Maiduguri for the 2025/2026 academic session, this is very important information for you. The school has officially announced the Post-Admission Screening Exercise for all candidates who applied through UTME (JAMB) and Direct Entry (DE).

This screening will start Monday, 11th August 2025 and will end on Thursday, 11th September 2025. That’s exactly one month — no more, no less. If you miss this period, you will not be able to participate, and that means you might miss your admission chance for this year.

The school is advising every candidate to take this seriously and do everything required before the closing date. There will be no extension after the deadline.

Who is this screening for?

This screening exercise is for:

UTME candidates who chose the University of Maiduguri as their first choice in their JAMB form.

Direct Entry candidates who also selected UNIMAID as their first choice in JAMB.

If you did not choose UNIMAID as your first choice, you are not eligible unless you change your institution to UNIMAID on the JAMB portal.

Step-by-Step Guide to Eligibility Requirements

Let’s go through all the requirements one by one, so you know exactly what you need.

1. Payment of Screening Fee

You must pay a non-refundable fee of ₦2,000 (Two Thousand Naira only).

You can only pay this money through the Remita platform — this is the official payment system.

“Non-refundable” means once you pay, you cannot get the money back, whether you are admitted or not.

Tip: Always pay using the correct school link to avoid being scammed. The university will never ask you to send money to a private account.

2. First Choice in JAMB

Only candidates who selected University of Maiduguri as their first choice during the 2025/2026 JAMB registration are eligible.

If you selected another school as first choice, you need to change it to UNIMAID before the screening.

You can do this change of institution on the JAMB CAPS portal.

3. UTME Score Requirement

If you wrote UTME:

You must have at least 150 marks in JAMB.

Some courses require higher cut-off marks. Check the University of Maiduguri website for details of your chosen course.

Example: Medicine might require more than 200, while courses like Agriculture may accept 150.

4. Correct Subject Combination

You must have chosen the correct UTME subjects for your intended course, as stated in the 2025 JAMB Brochure.

If your subject combination is wrong, you cannot be admitted for that course.

Example: If you want to study Engineering but did not write Physics in JAMB, you cannot be considered for that course.

5. Course Change Rules

If you do not meet the requirements for your chosen course, you cannot simply switch to another course unless you meet the requirements for that new course.

6. O’Level Requirements

All candidates (UTME and Direct Entry) must:

Have at least 5 O’Level credits in subjects related to the course they want to study.

The credits must include English Language and Mathematics.

You can use results from WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB.

You must get these results in not more than two sittings.

For Direct Entry candidates:

You must have at least a Lower Credit in your National Diploma (ND) or Higher National Diploma (HND), or a Merit at NCE level.

7. Acceptable O’Level Results

You should:

Download your O’Level result directly from WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB website, OR

Bring photocopies of your original certificates during verification.

8. Uploading O’Level to JAMB CAPS

Make sure your O’Level results are uploaded to your JAMB CAPS profile. If you don’t upload them, you might not get admission even if you pass the screening.

Your results are real and meet the course requirements.

You are qualified to be offered admission.

Without passing through this process, you cannot be considered for admission into UNIMAID.
