GOMBE STATE UNIVERSITY (GOMSU) GETS NUC APPROVAL FOR 9 NEW FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE PROGRAMMES

The management of Gombe State University is pleased to bring to the attention of the general public, prospective students, parents, and all stakeholders in the education sector that the institution has successfully secured full approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC). This approval grants the university the right to commence academic activities in a newly established Faculty of Agriculture, beginning from the 2025/2026 academic session.

This development marks a significant milestone in the university’s continuous efforts to broaden its academic landscape and contribute meaningfully to the training of professionals in the agricultural sector, which remains a vital component of national development. The Faculty of Agriculture is designed to produce graduates with the knowledge and practical skills needed to boost food security, promote sustainable agricultural practices, and enhance the agribusiness value chain in Nigeria and beyond.

The following degree programs will be available under the Faculty of Agriculture:

1. Bachelor of Agriculture

2. Bachelor of Science in Fisheries and Aquaculture

3. Bachelor of Science in Forestry Resource and Wildlife Management

4. Bachelor of Science in Animal Science

5. Bachelor of Science in Soil Science

6. Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics

7. Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Extension

8. Bachelor of Science in Crop Science

9. Bachelor of Science in Horticulture and Landscape Management

The university hereby invites all candidates who applied for admission into Gombe State University, and who meet the general admission requirements, including a minimum UTME score of 150 points with the appropriate subject combinations, to consider enrolling in any of the newly approved programs. Those who are interested in transferring to the Faculty of Agriculture are also encouraged to do so. To effect this change, candidates should log into the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) portal and update their course selection accordingly.
