UILORIN MARKS GOLDEN JUBILEE, PAYS TRIBUTE TO 65 ICONS OF DISTINCTION.

As part of activities marking its Golden Jubilee, the University of Ilorin is set to honour 65 eminent Nigerians—many of whom are proud alumni of the institution—for their remarkable contributions to national development and to the growth and prestige of the university.
The event, themed “Investiture Ceremony of Unilorin Ambassadors, Distinguished Alumni, and Award of Excellence,” will be held on Wednesday, July 16, at the university auditorium, beginning at 11:00 a.m. In a statement released by the Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, the ceremony is designed to celebrate individuals who have excelled in their respective careers, elevated the university’s reputation, and contributed significantly to its advancement.

According to the Chairman of the Awards Planning Committee, Professor AbdulRasheed Adeoye, the event is not only a celebration of individual achievements but also a moment of pride and reflection for the entire Unilorin community. He noted that the institution remains proud of its alumni and associates who continue to uphold the university’s values in their various spheres of influence.
The awards will include an Award of Excellence to one alumnus and another distinguished Nigerian. In addition, ten individuals will be honoured as Distinguished Alumni, while fifty persons and three graduating sets will be officially invested as Unilorin Ambassadors.

Among those to be honoured is Professor Emeritus Is’haq Olanrewaju Oloyede, CON, who is the former Vice Chancellor of the University and currently serves as the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Other notable names include Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, Dr. Adeyemi Murtadha Adeniji, and Professor Temidayo Oladiji, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure.

Also listed for recognition are Mr. Babatunde Omotowa, a former Managing Director of the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas Limited; Dr. AWA Ibrahim, a prominent accountant; Dr. Sarah Omotunde Alade, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria; Mrs. Kemi Nanna Nandap, Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service; and Mr. Eniola Bello, Managing Director of *Thisday* Newspapers.

Others to be honoured include Professor Abdulrasheed Na’Allah, the immediate past Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja; Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Lokoja; Professor David Durosomo; and Justice Asmau Tanwa Akanbi, among other distinguished personalities.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, will serve as the Chief Host of the ceremony. The keynote address will be delivered by renowned legal expert and Professor of Practice, Mallam Olaolu Ali, SAN.

The event is expected to be a grand moment of recognition, as the University of Ilorin celebrates five decades of academic excellence, character development, and national service. As one of Nigeria’s most prestigious and sought-after institutions, the University continues to uphold its legacy of producing individuals of notable impact.
